Limited Reopening of Mass Policy

In order to open Masses, parishes must follow the directives and work within the guidelines set by the State. These directives and guidelines will remain in force until further notice or changes by the State allow for or require revision. It is important to remember that these directives and guidelines are not intended to be permanent adjustments to normal practice but temporary responses to the pandemic.
 
            Reopening will not mean an immediate return to our practices prior to suspension of public Masses. Your patience, understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
 
Mass Schedule

• All Masses will be Sunday Masses. The dispensation from the Sunday obligation remains. Livestreaming of Masses will continue.
• Those attending Mass do so at their own risk. Vulnerable, at-risk and otherwise concerned persons should remain home.

• Current State guidelines limit the amount of people in each room to 50. Therefore, St. Rose can currently fit 50 people in the main church including cantors and ministers.
• An additional 50 people can be seated in the church basement. Mass will be livestreamed on Facebook and projected onto a screen.
• If necessary, 50 seats will be available in the school gymnasium where the livestream will be projected onto a screen.
• If you do not have a reservation on the day of Mass, please do not come to the church.

• For the time being, Mass attendance will require making a reservation. This will be done only by phone. Please do not e-mail or text. Should you wish to attend Mass, please call (509) 754-3640 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
• You may only attend one Sunday Mass per weekend.
• When reserving your seat for Mass, you must provide your full name and e-mail address. This information will be kept for two weeks for record-keeping purposes. After two weeks, the list will be dismissed.
• A parish staff member will contact you later to let you know where you will be sitting for Mass.
• Hospitality ministers will be at the entrance to check in parishioners. Please do not come to Mass if you have not registered.
• Depending on availability, individual Mass attendance may be limited to a period of time (such as every other week) since seating is currently limited.  

• Per State guidelines, there will be one designated entrance and exit at the parish. All doors will be propped open prior to Mass. Door will be closed once Mass begins.
• The entrance will be the main church doors on D Street SW.
• The exit will be the door to the right of the sanctuary that leads to 3^rd Ave SW.
• Exception: If you use a wheelchair or walker, or are accompanying someone who does, please use the normal handicap ramp and door on 3^rd Ave.

• According to State guidelines, all Mass attendees must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth.
• If you have your own facemask, please bring it to Mass to help save cost, however if you do not have one, the parish will provide one for you.
• Young children are not required to wear masks. This will be left to the discretion of their parents.
• Cantors will not wear masks as they will be at least 30 feet away from the congregation.
• Father Mauricio and the other ministers will not wear masks while in the sanctuary. They will wear masks while distributing communion.

• Communion will take place at the end of Mass after the final blessing. After parishioners receive the Eucharist they must please leave the church through the designated exit.
• All Mass attendees will receive Eucharist on the hands.
• When preparing to receive communion, please cup your hands so that the Eucharistic minister may gently drop the host into your hands.
• Please avoid any physical contact with your hands and the hands of the Eucharistic minister.
• When preparing to receive communion, pull your mask down and accept the host in your hands. After consuming the host, pull you mask back up and proceed to the exit.
• If you are watching Mass in the church basement or in the school gym, a Eucharistic minister will bring you communion.

• Cleaning and sanitizing of common use areas will take place after every Mass.
• Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance and exit. The faithful should sanitize their hands as they enter.
• You are encouraged to bring your own hand sanitizer if possible.
• Bathrooms will be open and will be cleaned and sanitized after each Mass.

• Physical distancing must be practiced at all times on Church property (minimum of six feet apart, except members of the same household).
• At least every other pew will be empty to ensure proper distancing.
• The parish cry room and choir loft will be limited to one family.
• Seating use in pews will be clearly marked.

• Liturgical singing will be limited to cantors. More cantors are permitted if they are from the same household.
• All songs will be simplistic and brief in length.
• While this is very challenging, congregational singing is highly discouraged at this time.

• Distribution of the Precious Blood is suspended at this time.
• There will be no sign of peace.
• All loose items (hymnals, pencils, cards, missalettes) will be removed from the pews
• There will be no holy water in fonts.

• While we are not panhandlers, we do appreciate any financial support you can give to help cover parish expenses and continue the mission of the Church.
• Collection baskets will not be passed through the pews as usual.
• Instead, collection baskets will be placed at the entrance and exit of the parish.
• Should you wish to give, please place your donation in the basket.
• You may also place your gift in the small wooden donation box which is mounted at the back of the church.

 
 
This restrictions and guidelines are challenging for all of us, but for the sake of all we ask that you help us to follow them in a spirit of Christian charity. There are a lot of complicated moving parts here and while this will not be perfect, we will follow these guidelines as closely as possible.
